Your Private Retreat on a Hawaiian Horse Ranch

How many days at a typical resort till the walls start closing in? Till laundry piles up, dining expenses soar, and the family can’t wait to get away from the getaway?

At Tradewinds Ranch House, you’ll be just as comfortable and relaxed on Day 30 as you were on Day 1, when you pulled up to the private, covered lanai, stretched out in front of the big-screen TV or sprawled on one of four California king beds.

We’re off the beaten path of tourist destinations and right in the center of “real-life” Hawaii, so after a day in the surf or seeing the sights of Oahu, you’ll come back to relax in your fully furnished retreat. Your 4-bedroom, 2-full-bath home has Wi-Fi, game systems, A/C and laundry facilities. Each bedroom features a smart TV, and the fully furnished kitchen provides dinnerware for 8, a microwave, Keurig coffeemaker, rice maker, range and refrigerator.

“We all just wanted to thank you. You went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. House is awesome. Comfy beds! Clean! We hope to stay again soon! Mahalo.

Discover

The spacious place to stay for your long-term getaway

The Tradewinds Ranch House, about 45 minutes from Honolulu International Airport, is just a short drive from the world-famous surfing destinations of Makaha Beach and Yokohama Bay on the west side of the island – the quieter, “road-less-traveled” side. “Paniolo” means cowboy, and the house sits on a working horse ranch. Neighbors include orchid growers, dairy farmers and others in rural and agricultural lines of work, so do expect some dust and farm aromas. There’s also a good chance you’ll hear roosters crow as you sip your morning Kona coffee on the lanai.

You’ll have exclusive use of the whole house during your stay; this is not a house-sharing plan. If you have kids, they’ll love playing in the spacious, fully fenced, landscaped yards, which have mature mango, guava and plumeria trees. If you’re here during season, any ripe fruit is yours.

Recently refurbished and upgraded, the house has tile floors and up-to-date amenities throughout.

Our brand new split-system A/C allows guests in each room to select the temperature setting that is most comfortable for them individually.

You can’t run out of things to do!

If you enjoy watching the sun set over the ocean, the west side of Oahu is for you. A 10-minute drive through town brings you to beach parks and picnic areas. And if you’re interested in snorkeling or whale- or dolphin-watching, check out excursions at the Wai’anae Boat Harbor.

Want to try horseback riding? Located on a working horse ranch, you’ll have an opportunity to see our beautiful American Quarter Horses every day. Depending on the time of year you’re here, you may even see foals cavorting in the field. If you’ve never ridden a horse and would like to do so, we now offer limited horseback rides in our riding arena. These “lead line” rides are primarily for children who would like the experience of being on a horse while we lead it around the arena, but adults are welcome to participate as well. If riding isn’t your thing, we’ll be happy to arrange for you to meet Gypsy, Chance or Badger. . . They all love making new friends.

There’s plenty to see and do nearby (plus a whole island to explore if you have the time) and we can help you navigate the area like a local.

Price Per Month – Due to Oahu’s recently passed ban on short-term rentals, this home rents only by the month (30-day minimum). However, our monthly rate is still less than what it would cost a family to stay for a week at many local hotels and resorts. Especially when you consider that we do not charge resort fees or  for parking. Plus, we offer free horseback rides for kids. Better Business Bureau accredited.

Food & Drink

Local supermarkets

& restaurants nearby.

Wai’anae has fast-food options and some great local and specialized restaurants. They’re not fancy, but some are “hole-in-the-wall” treasures with great food.

We highly recommend Coquito’s, which serves “onolicious” (Hawaiian for delicious) Puerto Rican, Colombian and Caribbean cuisine. For Japanese or Vietnamese dishes, Saito & Pho II in the Wai’anae Mall is excellent. Spicy House, specializing in Thai food, is one of our favorites, and for breakfast and lunch, a hands-down favorite is Ka’aha’aina Cafe. Located above the Wai’anae Comprehensive Health Center, it features fresh fish from the local harbor, fresh salads and greens from the local Ma’u Farms—and a view of the Pacific that cannot be topped anywhere else on the island.

There are also a Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and Pizza Hut about five minutes from the house.

Before you head home, you absolutely, positively MUST try a “loco moco” from the always-popular L & L Drive-Inn. This is a “can’t miss!” Seriously.

If you’re planning to “dine-in,” we have two small local supermarkets—Wai’anae Store and Tamura’s. They close early, though, so if you’re arriving on a flight late in the day, you may want to stock up on groceries in Kapolei, which is about halfway between Honolulu International Airport and the Ranch House. Safeway, Target, Walmart, Foodland, and Costco all call Kapolei home, so it’s a good stopping off point.

We hope to hear from you soon so we can schedule your fun-filled, adventurous and relaxing Hawaiian vacation.

Thank you, Sandy. Not only is your house beautiful, but your hospitality to have everything we need is on point!

Mimi

Information

Amenities

Fully Equipped Kitchen

Plan your own meals in our modern kitchen and enjoy fresh fruit from our yard, in-season. The fully equipped kitchen includes an electric range and oven, refrigerator, coffeemaker (traditional and Keurig), full-size microwave, dinner service for eight, a blender, pots, pans, serving dishes and more.

Bedroom Comforts

One of the things we hear most often from our guests is how comfortable the California King beds are. With beds this big, the bedrooms are a bit “cozy,” but our beds get rave reviews. Each of the four bedrooms is furnished with a Cal King bed and a wall-mounted smart TV. The master bedroom features a private bath.

Washer & Dryer

Another comment we hear is that guests love our full-size electric washer and dryer. Very convenient — especially when traveling with keiki.

Split System A/C

Our quiet split-system A/C has separate controls for each room, so each guest can set the temperature to one that’s comfortable for them.

Game Systems & Video Library

XBox and Playstation systems and games are available, as are smart TVs. We also have a video library with more than 160 titles. . . Let the games (and the movies) begin.

Barbecue Grill

Who doesn’t love a cookout in Paradise? Our gas grill is perfect for those who love barbecuing.

Ping Pong Table

Table tennis, anyone? We’ve honestly been a little surprised at how many of our guests LOVE playing ping pong!

Covered Lanai & Private Yard

Our privacy-fenced, fully landscaped yard almost has the feeling of a tropical resort. And what better place to enjoy it than on your own covered lanai. Many of our guests enjoy breakfast and/or coffee on the lanai.

Horseback Rides for Kids

A vacation on a horse ranch wouldn’t be complete without — of course — a ride on a horse. We’re happy to offer “lead-line” horseback rides for kids. What a great photo opp!!

Free WiFi

High-speed internet makes connectivity a breeze. The password is provided at check-in.

Free Parking

If you’ve ever paid, $20, $30 or even more for hotel/resort parking, you’ll appreciate FREE parking (in our covered carport). Please note that we are limited to two vehicles and there is no street parking. Also, a side note, there is no vehicle washing anywhere on the property. Mahalo.

Lovely house! Stayed here for ten days. We had a good time. It was mostly sunny, but we got caught in a story for a couple of days. Wewatched Robinhood: Men in Tights, all of the Rush Hous movies and Count of Monte Christo. Lovely house, comfortable. Fridge was nice and big. Thank you. Rate 10/10.
